“Loving Island Life” Bay Hay and Feed Bainbridge Island

This week’s “Loving Island Life” Blog features Bay Hay and Feed. Howard Block and Ce-Ann Parker fell in love with the old building in 1979 and bought it. Fresh from the sale of their natural food store in New Hampshire, Howard & Ce-Ann  pictured a New England general store that sold hay and grain, tools and farm supplies. Soon their horticultural backgrounds led them to add a greenhouse, plants and organic garden supplies. Located in the Rolling Bay Community of Bainbridge Island, Howard and Ce-ann have created a fabulous establishment that supplies the island with clothing, feed supplies, pet gear, and a complete nursery as well.  Like a Beehive, Bay Hay has always been the center of continuous activity dawn to dusk. This is the kind of special place that you can plan your day around.  From the moment you arrive the dramatic paint scheme on the historic building lets you know something very cool awaits you.  Once in the door you can easily lose track of time as you take in all the wonderful things.  A lot of thought has gone in to the inventory and you are sure to find exactly what you’re looking and then some…and more retail space is currently being added. A stroll through the nursery at any time of year is sure to bring a smile to your face.  From the founding family and the terrific staff, to the wonderful inventory, this sustainable “green” Bainbridge Island Icon is a destination and worth the trip from anywhere. Bay Hay is what “Loving Island Life” is all about!

This week’s Bainbridge Island Real Estate Brokers Tour added five homes and two condominiums to the tour.  The first home is a wonderful Bainbridge Island waterfront home that I just listed.  It is the perfect Nantucket Style home with warm-welcome entry, expansive covered decks and 180+ degree views from the Cascades to the Olympics with Mt. Rainier front and center! Extraordinary style boasting 4 bdrms, 4baths, Bonus room, and rec-room. Custom kitchen with an enviable list of appliances, granite counters and custom built-ins complete the package.   The next home toured was a large very private tastefully decorated Northwest Lodge Style home.  In the same area is a cute Ford Ward family home and sunny well cared for rambler located in Rolling Bay.  To round out the tour was a Port Madison Prow A-Frame on acreage and two in town condominiums.  All of these homes were great additions to the Bainbridge Island real estate market and add an excellent selection to the homes for sale on Bainbridge Island.
